Frequently Asked Questions
Detailed answers about our Chihuahua puppies, reservation process, health care, and nationwide delivery.
How old are your Chihuahua puppies when they go to their new homes?
Every puppy raised by Chihuahua of USA remains with their mother and littermates until they are at least eight weeks of age and eating solid food independently with steady daily weight gain. Depending on individual size and developmental readiness, many of our puppies are between eight and eleven weeks old when they transition to their permanent families. We never rush a tiny puppy before they are physically and emotionally ready.
Where are your puppies raised and how are they socialized?
All of our puppies are born and raised inside our private family home in the United States. We do not use outdoor kennels, cages, or third party brokers. From birth, our puppies experience daily gentle handling, normal household noises, soft bedding, and supervised interaction with our family. This indoor upbringing produces calm, affectionate puppies that bond quickly with their new owners and adjust smoothly to indoor family life.
What medical care and documentation come with each puppy?
Each puppy visits our licensed veterinarian for a comprehensive physical examination before placement. Every adopter receives an official veterinary health record listing all age appropriate vaccinations and deworming treatments administered, along with our signed one year congenital health guarantee, a written sales contract, and a care guide outlining feeding times and nutritional recommendations.
How large will my Chihuahua puppy grow as an adult?
Standard purebred Chihuahuas typically mature between three and six pounds when fully grown, depending on their parents build and individual growth curve. While we cannot guarantee an exact adult weight down to the ounce, we gladly share the weights of both parents and the puppy current growth chart so you have a clear, realistic expectation of their adult size.
Are your puppies trained to use indoor potty pads?
Yes, we begin introductory indoor pad training as soon as our puppies start walking steadily around four weeks of age. By the time they reach eight to eleven weeks old, our puppies are accustomed to stepping onto washable fabric pads or disposable puppy pads inside their playpen area. Continuing a consistent confined playpen routine during the first few weeks in your home makes completing house training straightforward.
How can I reserve an available puppy listed on your website?
To inquire about a specific puppy, visit our Contact Us page or click the inquiry button on the puppy profile card. Our family will respond promptly via info@chihuahuaofusa.com to answer your questions, discuss your household environment, and provide reservation instructions and a written adoption agreement. Once a puppy is reserved for your family, we immediately mark their status as reserved and coordinate pickup or travel dates with you.
How does delivery work if I live in another state?
Families across the United States have two safe options for welcoming their puppy. You are welcome to arrange an appointment for in person pickup, or we can coordinate accompanied in cabin flight nanny delivery to your nearest major airport. With flight nanny delivery, a trained courier carries your puppy inside a soft cabin carrier right at their seat on a commercial flight and meets you inside your local airport terminal. We never ship puppies unattended in cargo.
Do Chihuahuas get along well with other household pets and children?
Because our puppies are socialized with gentle handling and positive experiences early in life, they generally get along wonderfully with cat friendly dogs, gentle indoor cats, and respectful children who understand how to handle a small dog safely. We always recommend supervising interactions with larger pets or young children to ensure the tiny puppy is never accidentally stepped on or dropped.
